All bloodstock agents have to brag about their successes while selectively overlooking the horses they bought that didn’t work out. Here’s a sampling of my successes thus far:

PINHOOKING (The art of buying horses specifically to resell)
In 2003, purchased EL PRADO - SWIMMINGLY colt for $40,000 during the 2003 Keeneland September yearling sale. Subsequently resold the colt for $360,000 to Japanese interests during the 2004 Keeneland April two-year-olds in training sale. Sale registered as one of the leading pinhooking 'home runs' of the year. (See chart above.) Now named Eishin Sullivan, the colt is a stakes winner in Japan of more than $300,000.
Purchased a colt by ECTON PARK for $77,000 during the 2004 Keeneland September yearling sale. Out of the Wild Again mare Above the Odds, the colt resold for $220,000 the following February during the Fasig-Tipton Calder two-year-olds in training sale.
BREEDING
Bred SKY OF GOLD, a son of Pioneering ($3,500 stud fee) who sold as yearling for $55,000 at 1999 Fasig-Tipton July Select Yearling Sale. SKY OF GOLD is a stakes performer who won seven races and more than $200,000 during five seasons of racing.
SALES
In partnership with West Point Thoroughbreds owner Terry Finley, purchased SEATTLE FITZ at 2002 Pearls of Dubai sale in the United Arab Emirates for approximately $180,000. Four-year-old colt won $100,000 stakes in Dubai, then shipped to U.S. for 2003 campaign. Subsequently won three graded stakes including the 2004 Brooklyn (G2) and Aqueduct (G3) Handicaps, and he placed in that year's Donn Handicap (G1). SEATTLE FITZ currently stands at Buck Pond Farm near Lexington.
Purchased MAKE MINE MINNIE (f, Honour and Glory - Boundless Beauty) for $150,000 at the 2005 Fasig-Tipton Calder two-year-olds in training sale on behalf of Gail Fogelson. MAKE MINE MINNIE went on to win the 2006 Blue Norther Stakes at Santa Anita and place in the 2005 Anoakia Stakes.
On behalf of client Gabe Grossberg purchased SWEET SUGAREE (f, Tiznow - Clever Tide) for $100,000 during the 2005 OBS March two-year-old in training sale. Filly broke her maiden in a field that included Kentucky Oaks (G1) runner-up Ermine before she placed in the 2006 Martha Washington Stakes at Oaklawn Park. SWEET SUGAREE started as the fourth choice in the 2006 Ashland Stakes (G1) at Keeneland and was an individual betting interest in that year's Kentucky Oaks future wager.
Purchased THE CASE QUEEN (f, Gold Case - Shes Such Uh Love) as a weanling for $15,000 at the 2004 Keeneland November bloodstock sale. Filly was subsequently resold for $27,000 to Emerald Downs owner Ron Crockett, for whom the filly placed in the 2006 Federal Way Handicap at that racetrack.
Purchased COPPERTONE KID (c, Gold Case - Mia Petra) as a yearling for $22,000 at the 2004 Fasig-Tipton Texas yearling sale. Colt was pinhooked and subsequently resold for $40,000 at the 2005 Fasig-Tipton Timonium two-year-old sale, where he was purchased by Kentucky Derby (G1)-winning trainer John Servis. Colt has won three races to date and more than $100,000 as of September, 2006.
On behalf of client David Shashura, purchased Grade 2 stakes winner HIGHLAND TIDE in foal to Old Trieste for $100,000 in 2000. Old Trieste foal sold for $90,000 as weanling at the 2001 Keeneland November sale, and High Yield foal sold the following year for six figures.
On behalf of clients Sue Cook (Richland Ranch) and Crestwood Farm, purchased broodmare MISS HATCHET for $22,500 in 2003. First foal (a colt named Mr. Kipp) subsequently placed in $82,500 Huntington Stakes at Aqueduct less than three weeks later.
Purchased multiple winners on behalf of Four-Board Stables, including the multiple winners and stakes performers SAFE PLACE and IT'S ME MEGAN.
